Institutional investor double standards led to 'new economy' Essay

Institutional investor twofold standards led to sassy rescue businesses receiving near limitless funding for investment whil - Essay ExampleThis current scenario appears to localize to a deep change in the way investment institutions think with shifts from traditional approaches and a new providence. However, it is not a certainty that these new parsimony businesses will lead to an economic heaven. The dawn of the new economy threatens the values that were inherent in the old economy. To investors, it now seems that all companies need to be new economy businesses or no businesses at all. This has been deciphered as a challenge to all companies to move towards new economy businesses via lowering costs, redefining supplier and client relationships, as well as entry into new markets (Edison & Slok, 2011 p22). Institutional investor double standards led to new economy businesses receiving near limitless funding for investment eyepatch old economy companies restricted investment. This paper seeks to show how the difference in funding has distorted the corporate strategy and performance of these economies It is obvious that strategies that were successful in the old economy are no longer successful in supporting the new economy. In the old economy, businesses relied on growth and development as currency to attract investment for companies standardised manufacturing with significant plant capacities (Keha & Singh, 2009 p44). Businesses defined their economy by their infrastructure and the way they could accumulate old capital desire lending capacity, land, and equipment. Potential employees, therefore, followed the jobs. Due to the high outlay of capital and the planning involved, which was a long term, to establish business facilities, the communities were able to keep the economic activities that they possessed. In old the economy businesses, keeping business costs low was a vital strategy since low wage communities and minimum taxes were more competitive (Keha & Singh, 2009 p45). The prudence of companies and people were based on the notion of control and management. The employee market was regional with community competition also being low, as was the talent market. However, the new economy has turned the old economy strategies on its head. Talent as economic growths major currency has replaced manufacturing plants. This talent is fungible it is exchangeable like currency. Talent is driven by various factors, including diversity and tolerance, as well as innovative environments. Sustainability is also more embedded in the new economy business than it was in the old economy (Keha & Singh, 2009 p52). Therefore, economic development in the new economy does not come, necessarily, at the expense of social inequity and eat up resources, unlike the old economy. The new economy businesses are founded on the recognition that success and economic competition is now determined on a ball-shaped scale. While the elements of the new economy b usinesses are not all global, the ones that will have the greatest importance in coming years are. For instance, most of the drill opportunities lost in the State of Michigan have been lost to the service industry. The service sector seeks to meet local needs, employee services, as well as nonmigratory care (Keha & Singh, 2009 p52). Some reasons exist as to why investment institutions are looking towards the new economy business, as opposed to the old economy businesses. The double standards in funding have seen the new economies shift to digitization, which requires higher capital

The answer lay in the Watergate hotel complex and the break-in of the Democratic National Committees headquarters there. Reporters such as Woodward and Bernstein published stories linking some of Nixons closest aides to the break-in. These men were then forced t o resign. Congress began its own investigation, and Nixon also appointed Archibald Cox to be an independent police detective (Kutler, 330). The ties and connections between the burglars and Nixon were murky and complex. Every string that a reporter pulled ended up leading to another string or connection. So many mickle appeared to be either involved or trying to protect the president. During the hearings, one of the men who worked in the office of the presidents counsel was asked if there was any sort of enter device in the Oval Office. It was revealed that Nixon had recorded all conversations (Kutler, 383). These tapes were subpoenaed but Nixon refused to release them, saying that they were covered by his executive privilege. This created a showdown. Most people tangle that Nixon was refusing the release the tapes because they were incriminating. Nixon claimed that they had a great deal of privileged information on them. At this point, due to the many revelations, Nixon had los t the benefit of the doubt. Conversations on the tapes showed that Nixon had discussed with John doyen the paying of blackmail money to the burglars (Liebovich, 60). Dean, the former White House counsel, later became a key witness against Nixon in the hearings. When the tapes were finally released, an 18 minute fissure was discovered where portions of the tapes had been erased. This was thought by many to be a virtual admission of guilt, taking into consideration the massive mendacity that had to that point been supplied by the Nixon administration. The result was that Nixons position became untenable. He was extremely unpopular and his own party planned to vote against him. He decided to resign. A lot about this scandal is still unknown. One thing that it is eas y to judge, however, is that this is an example of the maxim, the cover up is worse than the crime. The break-in was clearly illegal, but if Nixon had said at the beginning that this was bad and had turned the burglars in, it seems unlikely things would have ended up as they did. Instead, dozens of people became involved in illegal actionespecially obstruction of justicein trying to cover things up. Nixon thought he could fire special prosecutors at will. He relied on peoples patriotism to protect himself. In the end, the American people had had enough of the spectacle he created. The method of traditional costing takes only direct labor-hours (See Appendix 1), while ABC method activity cost driver into considerat ion to compute the unit overhead cost (See Appendix 2). The result from the traditional method shows that product COM is more profitable as compared to RES (See Appendix 3). Whereas, the result form the ABC method reflects that product RES is more profitable then COM (See Appendix 4). Therefore, it has been observed that traditional method does not provide accurate result, whereas, ABC method gives more specific result. It has been analyzed that traditional method of costing does not provide accurate result because it does not utilize activity cost drivers for analyzing the per unit overhead cost. The result which has been obtained from both the methods are different form one another. Traditional method shows that product COM is better than RES, while the ABC method provides opposite result. Metalco shifted its preference from traditional method to ABC method because it gives more accurate analysis of the product cost. The ABC method determines each activity related to producing the item as

The property market at world level ( credit crunch affected ) and How Essay

The space market at world level ( credit crunch affected ) and How this goes for Hong Kong market - Essay ExampleThus the meeting of this is far reaching and can provide insight into the future of Hong Kongs property market as well as its overall financial base and how they can be affected. The reason for choosing this topic is therefore to study as to how this credit crunch will affect the world markets in general as well as Hong Kong Market in particular.Current credit crunch is largely perceived as the main reason behind the collapse of the property market in international system. The reason as to why credit crunch resulted into the collapse of the property market can be traced back to the subprime mortgage crises which emerged due to the imprudent lending practices of the bank. By definition, a subprime borrower is a borrower whose credit has not been entirely satisfactory due to historical defaults on payments against loans taken. (Budworth,2009). However, such borrowers pro long more lucrative options for the banks and financial institutions to lend because of their higher risk. High risk borrowers are often charged high rates therefore there is continuously a chance to earn high on such relationships.Based on this simple principle of risk and return banks and financial institutions started to lend to their subprime borrowers curiously in mortgage markets. However, banks and other financial institutions, at the same time, also started the process of securitization through which the mortgage portfolio held as security with the bank were bundled and securities were sold verboten against such collaterals in the open market. The basic purpose was to recoup the liquidity lost in making the loans to subprime borrowers.Crises in property markets started to emerge when subprime borrowers started to default on their commitments and as such banks have to pay out to the holders of mortgage backed securities through other means as with the default of the borrow ers a mismatch in cash flows were created. Terms of reference Essay Example for Free

Terms of reference EssayThis report is based on comparing six unalike documents. I develop to compare 2 documents from 3 different companies. I chose to compare 3 prospectuses and 3 application forms. All information was collected stretch forth year when I was looking for a collage to go to. I will be looking at different parts of the documents from how umteen knaves they have and how they appeal to people looking for a collage to go to. I will also be paper about how well the documents do in that respect job. I found by looking at each prospectus there were similar elements between them and also that they were similar to one another.I maxim in all that all prospectuses have had information on courses. I noticed that all the application forms were laid out the same they all used boxes all application forms use boxes because it makes the forms look better. The first document I collected was a prospectus from Spelthorne collage I got the prospectus by ordering it on-line from www. spelthorne. ac. uk but it can also be picked up from Spelthorne collage in Ashford. The Spelthorne prospectus is slightly 2/3rds the size of an A4 piece of paper and has boarder on the front page it also has writing firing on top of many pictures the writing is going diagonal. On the cover it also give the smasher the effect of looking at a website it has a list of courses and mouse over hand clicking on a subject, because the prospectus is only 2/3rds of an A4 sail of paper when opened it feels extra long. A special type of paper is used on the cover. This prospectus has to be one of the smallest I have seen. The layout of near every page in this prospectus is the same it has a few pictures at the top of the page of at the bottom some pictures and text draped around them every page has a lintel at the top (e.g. courses then it writes what course it is) Also on every page there is a boarder on the left the boarder is greater then any were else on the page this is bec ause information is written here like a contents. any other page has the Spelthorne website at the bottom in the boarder and also it has a mouse over saying Adult education courses see page 28 for full listing. Every page also has a over-embellished line going through the top of it and a full circle going through the large boarder on the left hand side. The layout of the courses is very good they have a big heading in the boarder with a content page. By looking at this prospectus you can see that the main colouring of it is purple but the front cover also has many different font colours these vary from white, orange, blue, red and yellow. The main colour that caught my eye when looking at this prospectus was the orange this was because it was brighter than any other colour on the page and stood out the most another colour I thought looked very well on the front cover was the whitish purple that was in the page boarder. When opening the prospectus you can still see that the dominate colour is purple but on the first few pages there are many other colours to such as light blue used as a back ground with black writing on top of it. A lot of white is also used as background colour. After the first few pages the purple boarder appears around the whole page other colours are also used but are not as noticed as purple. They make heading of courses stand out by making them a blue. On some pages a blue back ground is used to make information complicate out more. Overall I think the colour scheme is very straight forward but I think they over did it with the purple.

Aida Play Analysis Essay Example for Free

Aida Play Analysis EssayThe musical theater Aida was written by Auguste Mariette based on Giuseppe Verdis Italian-language opera. 2nd dodging Productions u blither the stage at Chantilly High School performed the musical. The musical was based on the legend of Aida, the Nubian princess who was captured as a slave to Radames, the captain of Egypt. The performance is carve up into two acts and it started with Radames fianci , Amneris, as a statue during the present times in a museum. The museum displayed a tomb with the carvings of a man and a woman buried together. Amneriss statue begins to sing and tells the tale behind the tomb. The set for the museum was sufficiently constructed for the story. The tomb was realistic and the background sets of Egyptian writing were appropriate to the feeling and style. However, at first it was difficult to turn over who Amneris was when she sang because she was position center right and maybe a little down right of the stage. There were no ot her props that clearly indicated that she was fictional character of the museum and that she was a statue. There was a back narrow parallel platform that elevated her separate from the ground. The ensemble members were the museum tourists observing the artifacts. However they were on the ground aim and there were no indications of them acknowledging her as a fellow artifact of the museum. Throughout the play, Aida is a strong character who deeply cares about her people. In the plot she hides her individuality as the Nubian Princess to save her people. The actress did an amazing job portraying those characteristics. Her voice was powerful and so phenomenal that each song she sung moved me. Every sense she evoked moved the audience through her acting and her singing. There was moment where the actress belted out a song that described the struggles of being a princess of Nubia. Her personate language was wish well a building wearing away and her facial expressions revealed pain and sorrow. Another moment that was very effective was when she finally accepted her fill out for Radames. Her body language was playful, her voice was light and her facial expression was soft and more youthful. She was the best and most excellent actress in the play. The lighting had its good do and bad effects. During serious moments, the lighting was used well and isolated the light towards the main characters. However, when the music became lively, the lighting was in all different colors, similar to a disco lighting, which I found unnecessary and sloppy for a historical musical. The costuming was decent as well but I expected more from a community theatre company. The costumes would be acceptable for a high school production but not a community one. The slave clothes were hunky-dory and tattered however, the fabric was new and it appeared new from stage. Since the setting is in historical times, the fabric must invoke that. The costume for Aida throughout the play was in a shiny fabric that was glittery. This was an anachronism since the setting, again, is in historical times. The ensemble was probably the poorest aspect of the play. In every act they were in, they were never in synch with each other. No one seemed to listen or hear each other. The ensembles made careless mistakes with their hands fidgeting, their eyes not focused and the acting did not seem like acting. In acting, the actor must have a purpose or goal to evoke good acting however the ensemble did not do that. They moved around with unmotivated movement. Their dance, however, was stronger than their acting. At times they were no in synch but they did decent on their dances. I wished that the ensemble danced with more diverse movements. The dances seemed a little parallel and conformed to the same movements at times. The ensemble men were Radames soldiers in the beginning and did a dance routine that had the characteristics of a march. The performance of the ensemble however, was poor. Their undefiled routine was not in synch and it was sloppy. In order to portray as soldiers, they should have had more cut and dry movements that were sharp and strict. However, they performed as if they were relaxed and bored. It was more of a casual walk than a march. Towards the end the soldiers did an impressive break dance when the song lifted from its austere melody, however I found it unnecessary. Overall the musical was satisfactory as a community musical. The background music was appropriate, the main actors were excellent in portraying their characters and the songs were sung on key. Although there were many errors in setting, and ensemble members, the director succeeded in telling and portraying the story of Aida in a reasonable fashion.

Supreme court of the uk

coercive homage of the ukIntroductionUK has created a in the raw Supreme Court and had transformed the court authority from the House of maestros by creating a new Supreme Court in the UK it happened first time in the history of UK this procedure was distinctive and democratic in the society. The focal area of creating new court was that they wants the judiciary to act as independent body because before that the decide of the higher court worked both as a legislature as well as judges in the brook of lords, the main modestness for creating a new court was that how fair it is for the judges to work as a judges in house of lords and as a officials in the parliament because the state invest the judiciary in both parliament and in the house of lords and it put the independency and impartially of the court at higher risk. The early(a) prospect at that period was invented that the decision made by the law lords judges might be challenged by the court of human rights on the basis o f fairness that they might be not be fair enough. In June 2003 the mechanical press conference was called and the Labour party announced the plan to generate a new Final Court in the United Kingdom. The debate was quite contentious, it was august news mainly for the parliament and for the public because it was new judiciary establishment for everyone and the issue arose that the House of Lords existed for the last hundreds of decays and for them creating a new supreme court was dishonouring and destroy the history. The debate of having a new Supreme Court whose members would not be a part of house of lord considered the issue of unjust between lead national legal systems. The judges in the UK has not got that strong great power like the judges in the United States they got strong supremacy to refuse or declare or say no to the statute if its making trouble or inconveniences in their work but in the United kingdom they havent got this power i.e. if the parliament is passing the s tatute and if the judge say I dont think this statute should pass because it will create a problem or may be inconvenient for us in the future. The parliament will ignore the judiciary view and will do whatever they think is better because sevens got the highest power. Judge has a very small room to fit in they will still apply the legislation if they think its not fair So, in simple words the law lords of the highest courts has no right and power to act in accordance to their convenience. Here the subject is what made Mr Blair to separate the judiciary from the parliament. The reason Mr Blair come to this unexpected constitutional reform is the departure of Article 6 of Human Rights Act 1998 (The national court cannot ignore the 1998 Act if theres a conflict between) in Article6 its stated that Every one has a Right to a Fair Trial everyone is entitled to an independency and impartiality. So the question is how fair it is for the judiciary to work as a legislative in the parlia ment and as well as to perform their duty in the House of Lords as a law lords. In 2003 the council of Europe has questioned from the British government it was a real shameful for the British government they have questioned about the position of the Lord Chancellor, Lord Irvine of Lairg, he was the senior judge and was also a cabinet minister and a speaker of upper house of legislative. Its the point of the justice and fairness its below the belt for one person holds many powers together. We had Lord Chancellors from the 20 centuries, sudden change was quite scandalous. Now the Lord Chief Justice is replaced by the Lord Chancellor, he will be responsible to look after the work and the performances of the courts. Although the issue is not about the judges undermining expertise, performances of the work they do but its about the righteousness. honor and independency must be measured against both subjectively and objectively standards. As it is been observed in Findlay V United Kingd om 199724 EHHR 221 , Where a solider has challenged the court martial procedure on the basis that the senior officer arranged a meeting, he appointed his members and the junior officer who was under his order. Had power to collapse up an official agreement regarding the court martial. Hereafter, again in the case of Morris V United Kingdom (application on 38784/97) 2002 ECHR 38784/97. In this case the applicant complained to the European court of human rights on the basis that in the court martial in his case, it was a violation of his right to a fair trial in Article 6 of European Convention of Human Rights. In simple words there was no independency in the court martial, the two officers for specialised purpose chosen were also in compatible with the court martial independency. The decision of the reviewing authority to change the decision of the court martial was also in compatible with independence. The third intention is the new role of the Privy Council and transferring to t he Supreme Court. Moreover they will take all the devolution cases from the Scotland, N. Ireland and Wales. Finally the New Supreme Court is officially opened on the 9th October 2009 and there will be 11 permanent law lords and the cost of the building was aprox57 million. Conclusion Its only a debating question, its also difficult for Great Britain to abolish its conventions. This proposed Supreme Court may disturb the whole convention and political history but on the other hand the separation of the House of Lords will give the judiciary full independency to take the decision without any outside pressure but very much it wont happened. The new Supreme Court is not as powerful as the U.S is, because British is a unitary form of Govt. It will be so difficult for Supreme Court to get high degree of place in the society.BIBLOGRAPHYhttp//www.justice.org.uk/images/pdfs/supreme.pdf (i)See http//medlibrary.org/medwiki/Supreme_Court_of_the_United_Kingdom (9/12/09)V.Bodganor, Building the New Supreme court field of study and Comparative Perspectives,2005Law Quarterly Review, p1,Westlaw.Robert.W, Robert, W.
